My New Computer Is Slow And Constantly Freezes! Why!?

So I got a new computer, an AMD X2 6000 with 4 Gigs Ram and 9800 Nvidia Geforce Graphics card. Within two weeks, I had failed to download a couple of games and kept trying to reinstall them and eventually quit. The next time I got on my computer, it kept freezing and unfreezing until it permenantly froze over.
